Last year, the first annual Sustainable Seafood
Forum was held in conjunction with China Fisheries & Seafood Expo.
The first event of its kind ever held in
Asia,
The Sustainable Seafood Forum was a day-long event held Monday,
the day before China Fisheries & Seafood Expo opens. Speakers
included were buyers, exporters, government officials and sustainable
seafood NGOs from Europe, North America and Asia. Topics addressed were: Where and why
demand for sustainably produced seafood is growing; How seafood
producers are increasing their sales of sustainable seafood; The role
of governments and regulatory agencies in managing sustainable
fisheries and aquaculture operations; How seafood is rated and
certified to be sustainable; and What
tools are available to help producers increase their
production of sustainable seafood and more.
