A booming, seaside city of 7 million people in northeastern
China, Qingdao was host city for the 2008 Olympic sailing
events. This charming city is also the commercial center of China's booming seafood processing industry. Companies in Qingdao and the surrounding Shandong Province import and export USD$5 billion worth of seafood a year – more than a third of China's total international seafood trade. While Qingdao has modern hotels and restaurants, it retains much of its old world character. Its convenient, new international airport has numerous daily flights from throughout China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. Early November is still the Golden Season in Qingdao. Days are normally dry and temperatures range from 18° to 24°C (64° to 74° F).
China Fisheries & Seafood Expo 2009 will fill three halls of the modern Qingdao International Convention Center. Address: Century Square, Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Qingdao, China |
